Event Challenges

Licence To Win campaign is an annual shopping campaign organized by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.

Licence To Win 2019 (LTW 2019) was a stellar launch at the legacy Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur on 23 August 2019. To participate in the campaign, every shopper who spent RM250 in a single receipt at any dining or retail outlet at all Malaysia International Airports was eligible to submit the contest entry. The unveiled of the McLaren 570S Coupé became the epic entrance of the event and marked the launch of LTW 2019.

The live event of LTW 2019 Grand Finale was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, MAHB team is considering to pivot the LTW 2019 Grand Finale from a physical event to a virtual event.

Organizing events require meticulous planning and groundwork to ensure the event proceeds without a hitch. a.c.e team had conducted an emergency meeting with MAHB once the Movement Control Order was first imposed nationwide. We had to set up several brainstorming sessions to develop the strategies for the virtual gambit that could deliver the event objectives. Unfortunately, the projected virtual LTW 2019 was turned down to manage and achieve the best event results.

Event Execution

Meetings over the past two years were to discuss the challenges of LTW 2019. Event attendees expect higher levels of engagement and sensory appeal than ever before. We have accessed the expectation of audiences and how we can deliver the event experiences by prioritizing audience engagement and complying with epidemic prevention regulations.

In 2022, physical events were starting to pick up again. With some ​​scepticism in hosting a physical event, MAHB remained the trailblazer to overcome the challenges faced. Taking over the Astor Ballroom at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, MAHB welcomed the LTW 2019 on the 16th of March.

Live Event Management The “Wow” Factors

a.c.e. team transformed the venue into a racing car simulation environment for LTW 2019 contestants and audiences is vital to enhance the pleasure of seeing. LED display and projection lighting is the unsung hero of live events. The versatile use of the LED screen as the event backdrop created stunning visual effects in event production.

The event program and promotional messages were displayed on the side projector screens. In addition, to make the event setup visually appealing, the event logo and racing flags were projected onto the walls. It was one of the eye-catchy treatments that form an emotional connection, captivates the audience's attention, and entertains them while they stay tuned.

The brand-new McLaren 570S Coupe was offered as the grand prize, the Ducati Monster 821 Superbike, a bonus prize for one lucky shopper. Both were showcasing in front of the stage. It was a great way to arouse new sensory experiences to event audiences. Besides, lucrative flight tickets worth up to RM290,000, bonus prizes, and monthly prizes giveaways such as vouchers was offered as contest prizes.

Everyone felt the dramatic effects and experienced the thrilling concoction of tension, joy, and excitement. The way we managed the uplifting music created bonding between the event, audiences, and contestants. Live event with the roar of the audience, the cheering, and the applause, these collective activities create an atmosphere.

Fantastic Gamified Event

MAHB has created exciting and heart-pounding Gameplay. Five grand finalists of LTW 2019 were stationed on the stage with an iPad attached to the stimulator cockpit seat. Each finalist was given a different target time limit by the VIPs. The contestant would click on the stopwatch on their respective iPads.

After a few rounds of intense competition, the audiences are focusing and holding their breath. An almost inexplicable silence occurred before the applause came. Jason Goh, the 25-year old finalist with the closest target, won the grand prize, a brand-new McLaren 570S Coupe.

The grand finale was remarkable with the final itinerary, the refreshment prepared by The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur. Foods bring people together. The delicious buffet exceptionally highlighted the grand finale and left a fantastic experience for the guests. It also gets the guests to know that MAHB appreciates and cares for the passengers and shoppers.

Event Results

According to the MAHB senior GM of commercial services Hani Ezra Husin, the shopping campaign recorded a 27% increase in LTW 2019 entries with sales receipts surpassing RM178 million. a.c.e would like to thank all the involved party included MAHB, supported partners, and vendors for the extensive efforts throughout the years in planning the event. MAHB was surprised that LTW 2019 was endearing with positive feedback and the guests were so ready to welcome their upcoming events. Along with the successful LTW 2019, MAHB would continue to improve their services that promote customer loyalty and comply with the innovative technology to reach a broader market.
